Course Description
|
This hand-on lab
course
will teach skills in taping techniques to
enhance the function of children with disorders of
posture and movement.
You
will improve therapy goals by using taping
as an adjunct to therapy.
Learn to apply tape through practice on other course participants.
Gain an understanding of how to use a
variety of tapes within the therapeutic
intervention process. Taping will be used to
activate muscles and to improve stability.
A variety of tapes will be
used, including
non adhesive tape, such as Theratogs,
Fabrifoam, and
adhesive tapes, such as Kineseo.Tape, and
rigid tapes.
Videotaped case examples utilizing taping for therapy, will be
presented to reinforce your learning experience
for clinical applications.
The techniques presented will be applicable for therapists at any
level, and can be used throughout the lifespan,
although the emphasis will be on pediatrics.

Learning Objectives
|
Upon course completion, participants will be able to:
1)
State
the theory and basic principles of
using taping for the treatment/management
of posture and movement problems in
children.
2) Demonstrate strategies to improve
posture and movement utilizing at least 2
different materials in the upper extremities,
lower extremities and trunk.
3) Use problem solving techniques to
enhance treatment through taping.

Speakers Bio
|
Jacqueline Grimenstein, PT, CKTP
received her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
from the University of Pittsburgh
in 1974.
She presents at continuing education courses
locally and nationally and has assisted Judi
Bierman.
She is an adjunct professor of advanced
pediatrics at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
She is a member of the APTA; and,
NDTA where she is currently a PT instructor
candidate.
She has practiced in a wide variety of
settings including 30 years within school
settings.
Presently she is the Director of
Rehabilitation Services for the Outpatient
Department at Weisman Children's Rehabilitation Hospital
in Marlton, NJ and part time in the Audubon NJ Public
School System.
