Description: |
|
This one-day seminar focuses on feeding and early communication skills in the infant from birth to one year, and the child functioning at that level. It is designed for the clinician who works in early intervention. The special issues of the NICU graduate will be included.
Learn strategies for supporting bottle and breast feeding. Gain an appreciation of the normal development of spoon feeding and treatment methods for difficulties that interfere with spoon feeding.
Gain an understanding of the development of cognitive and vocal skills for early communication. A criterion referenced assessment instrument will be presented and can be reproduced for immediate use, for determining the infant’s strengths and weaknesses in five communication related areas. Intervention strategies to promote the development of these skills will be included in this course. Piaget’s sensory motor periods provides the theoretical framework for this presentation. Videotaped examples will be used to enhance the
learning experience. |
