Description: |
|
This
superb presentation will review the etiology
of behavioral feeding disorders and offer treatment
principles and techniques to guide the therapist
towards appropriate treatment planning. The
medical aspects of why the older infant or toddler
is refusing to eat or to transition to different
textures will be examined.
The
audience will have the opportunity to practice
selected oral motor exercises, which will help
them to learn the techniques and to understand
how the children experience them. Selecting
appropriate treatment objectives, and integration
of oral motor and feeding interventions into
a single session will be focused upon.
Proper
positioning is critical to maximize performance
in any activity. Adaptive seating is often beyond
the immediate reach of developing infants/ toddlers.
Therefore, this presentation will include the
basics of jerry rigging commercially available
infant seats and high chairs for proper positioning.
(Jerry rigging is defined as: To build something
as quickly and cheaply as possible.)
Video
case presentations, lecture, and guid
ed
hands-on practice will be featured to make a
big difference towards enhancing the therapist’s
skills.
