Description: |

Frustrated
with clients who do not have intact sensory systems? Lori will show you
a step-by-step approach to teach your most challenging clients
tolerance of touch, enabling them to learn to eat and to use oral-motor
therapy tools. It will focus on promoting acceptance of touch for
therapeutic feeding and oral exercises. Her techniques
incorporate a variety of temperatures, textures and tastes. Each course
participant will be provided with food items including Cheerios, Fruit
Loops, Pretzel Sticks, Gummy Bears, Atomic Fireballs, and Applesauce,
and a standard Gerber baby nipple, a Dixie Straw and a Latex glove.
Leave this workshop with therapeutic feeding techniques that you can
use with confidence the next day.
Videotaped examples utilizing techniques taught, will be presented to
reinforce your learning experience for clinical applications.
